Tell us a bit about yourself: I’m Brent Sabas. An advertising art director by day and a freelance illustrator by night (and an occasional front man).
Tell us about your work and your style: My work is mainly done using pen and ink. Usually, I scan my work and color it in Photoshop. But when I have enough time, I really go full traditional, like painting over it or incorporating collage in the pieces. I love working with my hands and I don’t want to lose that connection with traditional materials.
Who inspires you? People who does their own thing. Them who are brave enough to pursue their passion regardless of what others might say.
Favorite Movie? The X-Men films. I think they addressed and illustrated the fight for individuality thing really well. Plus, the animation series of this in the 90s got me started to draw.
Favorite musical artist/album? I love listening to James Morrison, Jamie Cullum, Coldplay, Jeff Buckley, and Lianne La Havas. Recently, the usual suspects in my playlist are William Elvin, James Bay, and Sia.
Hobbies? Draw. Sing. Over think. Repeat.
If the zombie apocalypse happens, what is your weapon of choice and why? I’d be swinging a samurai like Mischonne, but with a training of a legitimate swordsman.
If you were to pick between Batman and Ironman, who would you pick? I’d pick Ironman for the sole reason that he could fly on his own using his armor.
Would you rather be good looking but poor or ugly but rich? I believe that if you’re rich, there’s no excuse for you to be ugly. So I’d rather be good looking and poor. Who knows, I could be the next Carrotman with talents to back me up. Then I’ll get rich. Haha!
